The real price, and what makes it vary

You want to rebuild your website. Your first question is the price. That is natural, and it is also the wrong question to start with. The cost of a redesign means nothing until you know what the site is supposed to bring you. Here are the real market ranges, the variables that take them from one to five times as much, and the cases where a full redesign is not justified.

“How much does it cost” is the wrong first question

A website is not a decoration expense. It is a tool that has to produce a measurable result: qualified quote requests, sales, booked appointments. Until that result is quantified, any price looks too expensive.

The right opening question is therefore not “how much does a redesign cost”. It is “what should this site achieve that the current one does not”. The scope of the project follows from that answer. And the price follows from the scope, not the other way round. A redesign that doubles your quote requests does not have the same budget as a simple visual refresh, even though both look like “rebuilding the site”.

The brief before the brief. Most managers call us to “rebuild the site”. Nine times out of ten, the problem is not the whole site: it is one precise place where visitors drop off. Before asking anyone for a quote, have someone show you, screen by screen, where your visitors abandon today. A supplier unable to answer that question will sell you a full redesign you may not need.

The real ranges in 2026

The market shows widely spread prices. Here are quantified benchmarks, attributed to their sources, to place your project.

The brochure site

According to the comparison site Codeur, a simple brochure site sits between 500 and 2,000 euros (verified on 30 May 2026). Rebuilding this type of site stays in the same range when the existing content can be reused: you start from a base rather than creating everything from scratch. It is the entry level, suitable for a clean professional presence, but without an advanced conversion logic.

The project according to the supplier

The same specification changes price depending on who delivers it. According to the agency Radiank, expect between 1,500 and 5,000 euros with a freelancer, and between 6,000 and 25,000 euros with an agency (verified on 30 May 2026). The gap does not measure the quality of the result. It measures the scope covered and the coordination: a freelancer delivers a well-scoped need quickly, an agency absorbs the coordination of several disciplines (design, development, content, sometimes video) on a single schedule.

The multilingual strategic redesign

Beyond the brochure site, as soon as you need a conversion logic, several languages in native quality and upstream scoping, the scope widens, and the price with it. But a wider scope does not mean the top of the agency range: it all depends on the supplier’s production base. Be wary, moreover, of any agency that announces a price before seeing your objective. Here are our benchmarks.

At Webrim: our ranges, published

Rather than sending everyone off to an opaque quote, we publish benchmarks. The price starts from a base and rises with the scope.

Brochure site: from 500 €. An 8-page bilingual site, with a blog and SEO, sits between 1,200 and 1,750 €.

E-commerce site: from 1,500 €. Fifteen pages, payment, multilingual and a member area: between 3,150 and 4,550 €.

Bespoke site: from 3,000 €, depending on the features and integrations.

Set those figures against the agency range quoted above (6,000 to 25,000 euros). The difference is not paid for in quality: a single trilingual team, an optimised production base, and the same care from scoping to measurement. It is the integrated agency without the structural costs of a large one.

What really makes the price vary

Three variables explain almost all the gap between a 3,000 euro quote and a 20,000 euro one.

The functional scope. A site with a contact form has nothing in common with an e-commerce funnel, a client area or a booking system. Each function adds development, testing and maintenance.

The number of languages. Each language produced to native quality, not as visible machine translation, adds content to write, integrate and maintain. Three languages is not a site multiplied by three, but it is never free.

The share of upstream strategy. A pure execution quote costs less at the start, then catches up on the change orders when nobody scoped the objective. Serious scoping has a visible cost, and it avoids the invisible cost of a site that serves no purpose.

The level of customisation and the integrations. Connecting the site to your CRM, to a payment solution or to your invoicing tool turns a brochure site into a working tool. That is useful, and it is billed.

The brief before the brief. A knock-down price with no written scope is not a bargain. The cheap quote always catches up on the change orders, or on what is missing on launch day. Insist on a detailed scope before comparing two prices: otherwise you are comparing two different things.

When a full redesign is not justified

Sometimes rebuilding the whole site is a waste. If your visits are decent but nobody converts, the problem is rarely the overall design. It is one precise screen: the form, the contact page, the payment funnel. Fixing that screen costs a fraction of a full redesign, and often produces more results.

An NGO once told us they wanted to rebuild everything because “the site does not bring in donations”. Looking at the figures, the site was receiving decent visits. The donation was failing on a single screen, on mobile, because the payment module was not adapted to phones. We rebuilt that path, not the site. The cost was trivial next to a full redesign.

Between what is sold and what is true. A serious agency will sometimes tell you not to rebuild your site. If a redesign does not change a measurable business objective, keep your budget for what counts. We invoice redesigns, but we prefer an honest recommendation to a project that will serve no purpose.

Agency, freelancer or in-house: what the price really covers

The right choice depends on one simple variable: how regular your need is.

For a one-off, well-scoped need, a competent freelancer is often the best price-to-speed ratio. For a project that combines several disciplines and demands overall coherence, an agency avoids the exhausting coordination of three or four separate suppliers. For a continuous flow of production, the question of bringing it in-house arises.

On that last point, a useful benchmark. According to the Fédération Française de la Communication, cited by the agency Native Conseil, an in-house communications officer post costs an average of 48,000 euros a year including charges (verified on 30 May 2026). An external redesign represents a fraction of that amount, on a one-off need. The trade-off is not “expensive or cheap”, but “regular or one-off”.

FAQ: website redesign

How long does a redesign take? According to Radiank, expect 4 to 6 weeks with a freelancer and 8 to 16 weeks for an agency project (verified on 30 May 2026). The timeline depends mostly on how fast your feedback comes and how available your content is.

Do you have to pay a deposit? Common practice is a deposit at the start, then staged payments by milestone (scoping, mockups, going live). A supplier who asks for everything up front, or nothing before the end, is an exception worth questioning.

Is maintenance included? Rarely in the price of the redesign. Maintenance (updates, security, backups) is a separate subscription. Ask for the amount at the quote stage: a site without maintenance ages fast.

Who writes the content? To be clarified before signing. The content can be supplied by you, written by the supplier, or shared. It is a budget line that changes the price, and the point that most often delays projects.

Do you guarantee first position on Google? No. Nobody can seriously guarantee it, and any promise of that kind is a warning sign. A well-built redesign improves your SEO foundations. The ranking itself depends on Google and on the competition, not on a commercial guarantee.

The three questions to ask yourself before requesting a quote

Before looking at any price, answer three questions.

What should the site achieve that the current one does not?

On which precise screen are you losing your visitors today?

What business result justifies the investment, and by when?

The right price is the one tied to a result, not to a catalogue of features. A deliverable is not a result.

To get started, we look at your site and your objective together during a scoping session, and tell you frankly whether you need a full redesign or a simple fix.

Request a free quote

You want to rebuild your website.
